In Memory...

Anam Cara sent out a very sad but very touching notecard.

"Today, I marked EVERYTHING in the store down to 25L or less (most 1-10L).

My grandmother, that raised me, passed away after weeks and weeks struggle at the hospital. I stayed there so I haven't been able to put out anything new.

Her favorite color in the world was golden yellow so I've made a memorial outfit in her honor. All donations and purchases of this outfit will go towards a memorial for her."

I am so sorry for her loss, I know how hard it is to lose a grandmother. Doing this sale was very generous of her, and after reading the note there was no way I could *not* buy the memorial dress. Lucky for me, it's gorgeous. It's only $100L and goes towards a very good cause.

At her store I also picked up this adorable "Not Strictly Business!" outfit for $20L... (hair is Truth's "Amanda" in Treacle)

... and this lovely little "Angelic" dress for only $10L...

I'm very excited to announce that I will be having some reading for the men very soon! My first "On the Street" thrifty fashion profile is coming up soon and features a man, and a BRAND NEW COLUMN written by my great friend Ame Steamer will be popping up here shortly. He is a very fashionable guy (Italian, no wonder!) and will be writing about getting different great looks for free/nearly free. His first column is about dressing steampunk for free, so you don't want to miss that!

"Oh yes, I remember. I should have slapped Mrs. Teasdale's face when she told it to me."

Here's a little retro number I put together with some great $50L Friday items.

Oh, deleting all episodes & clips of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien makes it so none of it happened?? I DON'T THINK SO! .... sorry....) This one is pretty funny, though.

Because I'm so much prettier inside....

"You are the ONLY PERSON I'd read a fashion blog for." But this is so much more than a fashion blog! Ok ok it *will* be when I get my act together. Anyway, the only current readers I know of are straight dudes (I have a bad habit of becoming "one of the guys" pretty quickly) so as a treat... A PICTURE OF ME IN A LESBIAN DANCE CLUB!!!

They... weren't a big fan of me.

Everything the same as above except the skirt is the polar edition from Miel (I got mine at the Melt exhibit so it's special... man I loved that installation...), hair is "Magic" from Hairy Situations (ladies... I get a lot of random compliments from the fellas about this hair. Maybe that's why the lesbians killed me... anyway, still 50% off!!) the gloves are Yess designs from the "Smoothy" outfit (I got for free in a voting thing, but it's on sale for $25L now!) and the top is actually scandalous lingerie from Shai in the Adriana grey outfit!!!

Horror movies were right, the one time I try to be a sexpot I get murdered. Tsk.

All (living) poses from Olive Juice's "Clever Girl" pose set. LAST DAY OF POSE FAIR!!

All Dressed Up and Nowhere To Go...

Outfit playlist:
Goldfrapp: Lovely 2 C U

Shoes: O! Bleak B&W Spring heels
Dress: osakki Bandage dress in Champage (store going out of business)
Hair: Truth GoGo hair in Coffee
Necklace: Jasha Verandi Necklace - Gold-Tone $50L
Skin: Laq Elena

Close-up on that necklace (also have it in black) I'm kind of in love with it...

So I took this outfit out on a test drive- to Frank's Jazz Club and some other dance place after that (sorry, the name elludes me.) ALWAYS tons of dudes standing around, and none of them ever ask the dolled up dames around them to dance! Fellas- if you're at a dance club and alone, ask the ladies to dance! Goodness. Else I assume I look awful here!

PINK it's like red but not quite...

As everyone knows, today was Anti-Bullying day, and Second Life really embraced it- at least, the awesome fashion designers did. Lots of freebies and cheapies, and some assorted "pink" sales.

I happened to be wearing an outfit perfect for the venue I was going to- Steeleheart Village, where I was lucky enough to catch three amazing live acts. Naftali Torok played beautiful Dutch music, all instrumental and really stirring.
Cindy Ecksol sang beautifully and played a wonderful fiddle (I am a *sucker* for that instrument) and Brenden Shoreland ended it all wonderfully with a great voice. The atmosphere is very cozy, laid back and reminds me of a lot of small Irish-inspired pubs I've seen live music at.

Also, no annoying chat spam- please take note, other venues! Showing appreciation of the artists is a must, but having cheering and "woo!" noises over their talking and sometimes even performing while covering up the entire screen probably isn't the best way to show them you're enjoying what they're doing. Maybe I'm just an angry old man at heart, though, eh? Get off my e-lawn!!

Hair: Hairy Situation- Magic, shade Bitter Chocolate (all hair is 50% off!)
Poses: Glitterati Model pack 11
Shirt: Pacadi Frilled Neckline Singlet in #03 (going out of business sale, everything is drastically slashed down)
Skirt: Sari's Silk Road skirt. I just discovered this store (what? I'm a newbie!) and I'm in love. Really unique, low-priced-high-quality funky, boho hippie inspired clothes. If you love colorful clothes, this place will bloooow your mind, man!
Bracelets: Jasha Tahta bracelets in Wood
Necklace: Jasha Oceania necklace in Hot (all jewelry here is currently $50L, and they have some really stunning pieces.)
Shoes: BAX Ultimate Boots in gold

It's also HUMP DAY! Some great finds, I'm wearing a few here...

Skin: Mango Mango skin in Chapped, pale shade. I LOVE this skin, so much personality but very cute- plus it comes with a freckled version! A steal at $69L
Hair: Audacity Cinde in Sable. This shop just re-opened (I was lucky enough to randomly stop by the opening day party- goofy dancing fun!) and she has some great styles. This comes in three shades, and there is also a huge welcome pack of free hair and some RFL easter eggs, so definitely check it out. $69L
Shirt: Butterfly Effectz "Strong in Pink" shirt, a subscriber freebie!
Shoes: A-Bomb's color change Nazumi sneakers. $69L
Pose: From the same Glitterati set from above
Set: La Petite Morte "The Alley", and above I used her set "The Runway". Amazing photo sets there, I highly recommend checking it out.

Hair: NEW! Truth Kylie in Treacle shade
Shirt: Moonshine Designs "Gidget" top in Blossom. Four other colors. $69L.
Skirt: Couverture Spongy Dots skirt

Ok, Mischief is having a 50% OFF SALE ON ALL FATPACKS for the month of April to celebrate the owners birthday & rezzday (hope they're both super happy!!) A Kookie quickie that'll leave you in Stitches!

Quickie- Kookie did not have their FLF item out until very recently- but man it was worth the (ok, short) wait- Powderpuff heels in Bordeaux. High quality heels that can go dressy or casual. Also out for $50L each this weekend is Stitch by Stitch's weekend offering, the Blooming Pencil skirtx (yes, every weekend she puts out an amazing $50L deal, last week it was those rad leggings.) Choice of two patterned skirts and matching bags (which I did not purchase.) Here it is in teal with the Kookie shoes-

... and in the other shade with the STRAPLESS version of the heels (yes, you get both options!) I highly recommend both buys. Oh, and that cute top is from the free dress offered today to Second Style Island subscribers. :) Sorry no slurls, I'm running out the door but they're all easy to find via search. Have a great weekend, everybody!
